The sun is an amazing source of heat, and you probably notice this in the summer when it is beating down on your roof, causing your home to heat up really quickly. If you want to avoid that from happening, you don’t have many options. You can’t just pick up your home and place it in a different, more shady location, and trees take a long time to grow to provide you with cover.
One option that is actually possible is to turn your roof into a cool roof.
A cool roof has a coating that reflects heat instead of absorbing it, lessening the sun’s effect on your roof. Of course, this is not a cheap solution, but if you find that you spend a lot of money during the summer months to cool down your home, you will eventually get a good return on your investment. It is possible to add a coating to an existing roof to turn it into a cool roof, but there is also the option to replace your roof with one that already is coated from the factory.
