It is hard to imagine a home without windows, but in reality, windows make it a lot harder to control the temperature inside your home. Double pane windows do a much better job at keeping the elements at bay than a single pane window. However, what if your double pane windows start looking foggy or misty on the inside, are they still effective? The answer is no. When this happens, it usually means that the seal around your window failed, and moisture made it in between the panes. A silica desiccant is used to seal in the gas between the window panes, and it serves a vital purpose in insulating your window. What will happen over time, however, is that the natural expansion and contraction of the window will damage the seal.
Unfortunately, there is no easy fix to this problem. You might need to replace the window all together.
