Do you have a hard time getting cold water out of your faucet? Do you have to keep the water running for a long time before it changes? This problem is more common than you would think, and it can be very frustrating. Interestingly, depending on the cause of the problem, the time of year where there is a problem, and how long it takes to get the water cold can vary. For example, during the winter, some homes might have this issue because of a problem with their heating system where the cold water pipes get heated up. In the summer, the issue could be due to the cold water pipe running through an un-insulated part of the home.
There is also the possibility that the cold water and hot water pipe run too close to each other, thus causing a transfer of heat to occur. Often a quick and cheap fix would be to insulate your pipes, but this will not solve the problem in every case.
