Mosquitoes can be very annoying when you’re trying to enjoy your yard. Here are a few simple ways to help you to reduce your mosquito population.

The first way is to increase the number of mosquito predators in your yard. You can do this by installing bat or bird houses. Bats love to eat mosquitoes and some birds also eat mosquitoes. Building a bat or bird house is easy and could make a fun family project.

Another way is to plant plants that are mosquito repellent. Some examples of mosquito repellent plants are marigolds, bee balm, rosemary, lavender, and citronella. Mosquitoes do not like these plants.

The last way to reduce your mosquito population is to look for any standing water in your yard. Birdbaths can be a huge breeding ground for mosquitoes, so try to weekly change the water. Other spots where you can find standing water are saucers of outdoor flower pots, tree holes, discarded cans and containers, and clogged rain gutters. All of these can also be breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

These are just a few simple ways to help you to reduce your mosquito population, and be better able to enjoy your backyard.
